Subject: LAVA Ether Link Device Manager Installer v6.6.0 for Microsoft Windows.

GENERAL
-------
This installation contains the LAVA Ether Link Device Manager version 6.6.0
for Microsoft Windows. The supported systems are Windows 8 32-bit and 64-bit.

The package supports Ether-Serial Link 1, 2, 4, 8, and 16 port units.
The ESL 5 port Embedded product is also supported.
The DataTap-IP is also supported.

The Windows 8 32-bit and 64-bit drivers have been Digitally Signed by Microsoft.

Installations which use the Windows 8 driver report version 5.14.0.0 on the Driver
Tab of the Port's Property Pages in the Device Manager.

The Manager reports itself as version 6.6.0 in the Manager Help information. The Manager
was built with Visual Studio 2012 hence requires vcredist_x86.exe runtime libraries
to be installed if not already present. The installation process automatically runs
vcredist_x86.exe, which is included with the Manager release.

The installation supports only Windows 8, for earlier operating systems please
use the 5.x manager. The 5.x Manager supports Windows 7, Windows XP 32-bit,
Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, and Windows 2000 32-bit.

INSTALLATION
------------
Any ports on the PC should be deactivated prior to the installation of a new Manager.
Port deactivation is done by using the existing Ether-Serial Link Manager, using
the "right click" option on each port and selecting "Deactivate". Port deactivation
will require Administrator rights.

Port deactivation can optionally be performed through the Windows Device Manager.

If running an earlier version of the Manager, the standard Add/Remove Programs
application, within the Control Panel, should be used to removing the previous version.

The Manager MUST BE RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR if ports are to be activated or deactivated.
This can be done by Right clicking on the Manager short cut and selecting
"Run as Administrator". If "Run as Administrator" has not been selected the Manager
will still be able to view and configure the devices but will be unable to activate
or deactivate any ports.

Although the driver used for a Windows 8 32-bit system is signed, the Device
Manager Driver tab currently reports the driver as being "Not digitally signed".
The driver is fully functional as indicated by the Device Status box under the
General tab, which states "The device is working properly".
